Hope Mills Carolina may be home to the largest illegal gambling ring in the history of the United States. Investigators claim Funtime Amusements Inc., a locally owned and operated business, is facilitating thousands of video gambling machines throughout the country.

State law prohibits any establishment from having more than three of these machines. It also does not allow payouts to be made in cash. On Friday investigators seized suspect machines from Funtime. They expect to raid dozens of other businesses and seize close to one thousand machines in total.

Currently there are no charges filed against the business owner of Funtime.
